The new Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School addition includes two new wings to optimize adjacencies to related instructional areas within the existing building. A two-story wing was constructed along the north face of the existing building and a four-story wing was constructed directly to the west of the existing gymnasium. The addition connects the existing building at the stairwell behind the gymnasium, and loops around the northwest corner to connect to the front entrance. The front entrance was modified to connect the addition at three existing floor levels and provide a more clearly defined main entrance. A new security vestibule was incorporated, requiring all visitors to enter the building through the administrative suite. The addition included administrative and classroom spaces, laboratories, a dance studio, outside tennis courts, and a parking deck on the roof.
